Hello there my name is Barney…I was found wandering around a few weeks ago..I had no idea where I was or where my family was….they never came looking for me..so I just kept on walking…avoiding everyone I saw…I was getting so tired of walking…..then…one day.. someone saw me and I had no choice but to let them catch me…they brought me to the county shelter..and afterwards…they sent the rescue request. next thing I know….I was on my way to Barky Pines..where I was welcomed with open arms..I’ve made many friends in a short while..I do like to run..and run..and sometimes climb the fence…so now I’ve got to be on a leash in the yard…no one understands how hard it is for a guy like me…no one ever cared where I was our what I was doing…I kinda got used to that..now I see how different these people here are..they do care for us all..and want to keep us safe…my hope is to find a family with a big fenced in yard..and patience to let me get used to them…I am a sweet loving boy..I’m house trained and now crate trained..I hope one day soon…the family I’ve always wanted will come and meet me…could that person be you? Hello my name is Chico…I am a 9 year old pomeranian..it’s very nice to meet you!! I was brought to Barky Pines by my mother who was moving and couldn’t take me with her…I was devasted and so upset and couldn’t figure out why…What did I do wrong to make her want to give me up? Hi there my name is Pumpkin..it’s very nice to meet you…Picture this..a very pregnant girl (me) was left to fend for myself…with a belly full of unborn children..I wandered off to where I thought I would be safe…as I knew my children were coming soon..I found myself next to a pickup truck that had been there a while and that’s where it happened…I was blessed with 5 babes..unfortunately..because I was all alone without anyone to help me…two of my babes passed away…It was all I could do..not to cry myself to sleep..but I had three babes…who needed me..a day or so later someone spotted me and they called the county shelter…by the grace of God…a kind soul arrived in a county vehicle and scooped me and my babes up…They drove us out to Barky Pines…where I knew right away in my heart…my babes and myself would be safe and secure…I was a bit nervous at first..but after a few days…I was giving all the love and kisses I could to my humans…my kids are grown now and have moved on to their forever homes..except for me and my little girl..I am hoping to find my forever home…a family who has patience to train my wild side..as my former humans never did…I need all the training you can provide me…all the basic commands..I do listen on occasion but I’m more of a free spirit..If you are willing to train and love me…I promise never to run off…I will give you all the love and sweet kisses…and I give my belly freely for rubs..If you would like to meet me please feel free to fill out the adoption application on our website…And please call ahead to (561) 402-1451 to schedule an appointment..ltill then…I’ll be waiting here for you…

Finley is an absolute doll , he’s approximately 3-4 years old with a loving personality. Finley was found as a stray, brought to the county shelter. We were called right away, and we immediately went and picked him up. He was in a lot of pain from an old injury, which thankfully only needed rest. After a few weeks of taking it easy he began playing out the yard with all of his housemates. He’s super sweet and very friendly, gets along well with everyone he meets here.
He had been adopted and he loved his family immensely and they loved him, but he became protective very early on. He would bark at anyone who came near the young boy when they came to the house. He responded the same with other dogs on walks in the neighborhood. He would likely do better in a home without young children and less visitors. He would love a fenced in yard to run and play in. Hi there, my name is Pine. I’m about four years old it’s a pleasure to meet you..so a few months ago..I was running around in the farm lands..having so much fun..I ended up down the street from Barky Pines and that’s the beginning of my journey!! They came to scan me only to find I had no microchip and I wasn’t fixed either oh boy that would all change very quickly!! As you can see I’m a big boy..I was so thankful that they took me in despite my size..as it turned out they have an air conditioned condo with color tv and a nice cozy bed..and that was to be my own personal space!! Wow just got here and I’m treated like a king!! I really never stayed indoor before and it took some getting used to in the beginning!! Now I can’t wait for my walk and I happily go right back inside to enjoy some tv! I love to be walked around the huge property but I do like to chase the cats and occasionally a chicken or duck..I am a very sweet boy I’m getting used to being pet and loved..I am a very sweet boy…I’m getting used to being pet and loved on..Oh and did I mention that I can jump like 5 feet straight up in the air…I would to find a family of my own…a family who can manage a big boy like me…could be that person be you? I would like to share my story with you…well a few weeks ago..my family decided they no longer wanted me…they were going to bring me somewhere and have me put to sleep…can you imagine what that felt like…the only family I’ve ever known..was done with me…they were going to drop me off at the county shelter..all alone…and scared to death…I can’t imagine what I did wrong…is it because of my skin condition? All they had to do was give me some medicine and a medical bath…but no…they wanted me gone…I couldn’t believe this was happening to me…the day they dropped me off…was the worst day of my life..I was heartbroken,,terrified what would happen there…well a miracle happened..when the doctor saw me and thought I have a lot of life let in me..and with proper care my skin will heal and I could find a real loving home…they sent out a rescue request..and the rest is history..I left the shelter with a thankful hopeful outlook…I’ve been treated like a queen here..the doctor examined me and gave me medicine to help my skin…I’ve already made friends with a lot of my housemates…and I am hopeful to find that special family…who loves their pups till their last breath..a family who would cherish me…and care for me..could that special someone be you? Saturn is a 4 year-old Jack Russell chi mix. We pulled him from Animal Care and Control , with a hind leg injury which we took care of surgically right away. He has been with us for over a year and a half. His leg has healed perfectly and now his personality has shown through. Saturn is an absolute sweetheart, ONCE HE KNOWS YOU, he loves to give kisses and being held. He walks wonderfully on a leash and is completely house trained. Linus is 7 year old rat terrier mix. Linus had a bad ear infection when he first came to the farm, back in August, which we treated right away. He was very shy at first, not feeling well, but as time passed and he healed up, he’s come along way. He’s made friends with all of his housemates, and when they are out for playtime, he runs around with everyone, He loves to give kisses now and is very affectionate. Scout is approximately 4 years old and looks like he could be a miniature Irish Setter! Scout was captured after being spotted for over a week in a community. Pearl is a 6 year old chi/rat terrier mix with a big personality. She came to us Heartworm positive. She has completed her treatment and is doing very well. She was very thin and missing some fur on her back, since she’s arrived she’s gained her weight back and her fur as well. Pearl can be very bossy with her roommates, and wants all of your attention. She has since made friends with her roomie Ermie, but still protects her food. We can only imagine she didn’t get the food she needed before she came to us, or wasn’t trained well.. One on one she is super sweet and loving, loves to sit on your lap while your working. She would do best in a home where she would be the only pup in your life, with a fenced in yard so she can lounge in the sun. Santa is a handsome 9 year old rat terrier mix in good health. He is well mannered and very easy going. He is timid when you go to pick him up but will be submissive vs aggressive.
He is good with other small dogs but can definitely be bossy at times , mostly when it comes to food. He can be vocal and his bark sounds like he is a seal. He’s a good guard dog as he will bark when a stranger approached. He probably would not be a great fit in a condo/apartment. He does have good house manners and minds well.
